Macphie is the UK's leading food ingredients manufacturer. They recently became the first manufacturer to produce food ingredients using green energy created from locally-sourced wood chips. Construction of an on-site, multi-million pound 1.2MW biomass boiler has been completed, which is the first of its kind in Scotland. Annually the boiler will use 5,000 tonnes of wood chips to generate up to 1,950kg of steam per hour, which will be fed directly into their UHT factory to produce a range of sauces, fruit coulis, desserts, dairy cream alternatives and glazes. This will reduce CO2 emissions by 2,100 tonnes annually.
Macphie have kindly offered to host our event, which will be focused on biomass but also cover how to assess the potential for renewable energy on your site. Macphie will be providing tours of their site so we can see the boiler in action.
A shuttle bus will be provided from Stonehaven train station at 1.45pm to take you to the site. If you would like to book a place, please email jo@thebep.org.uk.
This event is kindly sponsored by Macphie www.macphie.com
