This course includes a full day session on 15th November, followed by a half day session on 14th February 2010. Attendees must participate in both sessions in order to gain a certificate.

- How to maintain and audit the system
- Considerations for development of a system to ISO 14001 Standard (phase 6 of BS8555).

- Establishing commitment to an EMS and developing an Environmental Policy
- Evaluation and review of environmental aspects and use of risk assessment tools
- Identifying and ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and other requirements.

- Includes 1 day of bespoke on-site assistance from a trained auditor
Coursework:
- Completion of environmental policy
- Provision of template for completion of aspects and legal registers
- Provision of template for completion of management programmes
- Development of operational control procedures
- Development monitoring and measuring procedures and data collection
- Audit of system prior to certification including evaluation of legal compliance
Delegates will be expected to attend both workshop 1 & 2 and complete course work in-between to ensure that they have a complete system ready for certification after the course is complete. Further support in auditing, staff training, progression to further stages, system maintenance etc. is all available through the Green Business Partnership for further development if required. More on site time can be offered if delegates can’t commit to all of the workshops and associated coursework involved.

This course is aimed at staff designated with the role of managing an EMS and will provide you with the skills and necessary documents to develop a BS8555 system to phase 3, ready for certification.
